FIELD: production of drinking water. SUBSTANCE: technical solution ensures cleaning of water of bacteria, viruses, bacteriophages, toxins, halogens and halogen-containing compounds, phenols, nitrites, oil products, surfactants, ions of heavy metals while retaining said ions in water at physiologically required level. Water is cleaned by passing it through five successively interconnected cartridges with filtering and cleaning materials. Water flows in succession through iodine-containing anion-exchange resin, activated carbon, disinfecting material, iodine-containing anion- exchange resin, activated carbon, mixture of anion-exchange resins, disinfecting material and activated carbon.
