FIELD: hardening technique. SUBSTANCE: with induction heating of rail head up to hardening temperatures and subsequent cooling high frequency electromagnetic field acting upon rail head is generated by induction of high frequency currents in linear conductor connected by plates to inductive conductor, at the same time linear conductor has diameter which is bigger than that of inductive conductor. Space between inductive conductor and rail head is to be fixed to provide continuously-successive heating. Heated portion of rail is cooled with the aid of sprayer which simultaneously cools inductive conductor. EFFECT: improved hardening. 3 cl, 2 dwg
