FIELD: nonferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: sulfide mass, cold materials are loaded; the sulfide mass is blown through, then slag is skimmed. The smelting is carried out with a quartz flux to produce a converter matte. The blow-through of the sulfide mass is stopped as the sulfide mass iron content reaches less than 3% . The converter matte is produced by mixing the sulfide mass with calculated amount of technical-grade nickel monoxide and quartz flux to reduce iron content in the sulfide mass to 0.4-3% .
