FIELD: agriculture. SUBSTANCE: method involves determining actual soil humusness and value of optimum humusness for a given type of soil; analyzing organic fertilizer for organic substance content and humification level; determining fertilization norm and applying organic fertilizer into soil. Method is characterized in that fertilizers of various kinds are subject to analysis. In addition, organic substance humus state factors, such as content of humic and fulvic acids and their fraction composition, type of humus, degree of motion of humic acids, non-hydrolyzable remainder and degree of nitrogen- incorporation of humus, are determined. The soil is further analyzed for the above-mentioned factors and degree of humification as well as their optimum values for a given type of soil. According to the results of analysis, organic fertilizer with humus state factors compensating unfavorable soil factors should be chosen. EFFECT: increased efficiency of method. 6 tbl
