FIELD: oil processing. SUBSTANCE: method involves adding saturated aqueous solution of nickel and/or cobalt compound to porous oxide- metal carrier containing at least 50% by weight of aluminum oxide and/or silicon dioxide in pellets; providing evaporation of excessive water in vacuum; drying pellets and heating at ambient temperature of 500 C to obtain nickel oxide and/or cobalt oxide; treating obtained pellets with aqueous solution of organic or inorganic compound of halogen; discharging excessive water upon expiration of 30 min at room temperature; drying and cooling pellets; impregnating pellets with aqueous solution of ruthenium nonhalogen compound; drying pellets in ambient air; heating dried pellets in a flow of gaseous hydrogen for 1 hour at 180-200 C, then for 4 hours at 400 C. Salts of nickel and/or cobalt and ruthenium are reduced to metals fine-grinding state. EFFECT: increased efficiency of method. 4 tbl
