FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: explosive charges provided by initiation means are arranged inside metal structure. The best method is the arrangement of the charges over the interior surface of the metal structure to be disassembled. Then, the impulse is applied for simultaneous blasting of all the charges. The mass of the charges is such that the load on each part of the metal structure is equal at least to the half of the force necessary for separating this part from the parts adjoining to it. Used as lengthy weakened zones may be the existing welding joints. To facilitate more uniform distribution of load, the charges are mounted predominantly at an equal distance from the surface. In order to utilize the mass of the charges more fully, they are positioned in such a way that one of the largest sides of each charge is facing the nearest surface of the metal structure and is positioned parallel to this surface. Taking into account the different thickness and area of sections of the metal structure use is normally made of composite charges. If the metal structure contains the parts from dissimilar metals, the structure is first separated into components containing these parts and then the parts are separated from one another.
