FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: new method of producing steel in converter included steps of charging scrap metal, pouring in pig iron, blowing off bath with oxygen, feeding oxygen by free jets to bath center via side lances from above and height of 2 to 10 m over level of calm bath, charging powdery materials from below with beginning of blowing and powdery lime on foaming of slag, supplying oxygen-free gas into bath from below, blowing off bath with oxygen from overhead through central multijet lance in desiliconization phase, raising lance to height of 1.5 to 10 m above level of calm bath, and feeding oxygen by free jets. Rate of oxygen flow admitted via side lances was maintained at 25 to 50 % of total amount to be consumed. EFFECT: higher quality and efficiency.
