FIELD: metallurgy, in particular, steel making in oxygen converters. SUBSTANCE: method includes charging of scrap and hot metal and blowing of metal with oxygen. During the lining age less than 25% of campaigns are started with blowing of metal with oxygen at lance position relative to still bath measured by 50-56 calibers and pressure of oxygen blast onto metal is 4.7-7 GPa. In 3-6% of blowing time, pressure of oxygen blast increases. Then oxygen blast increases every 1-3% of blowing time according to formula ΔD = 0.0153 x τ2,2715 + 13.073, where ΔD is increment of pressure rise relative to foregoing value, %; τ is duration of oxygen blowing. Upon consumption of oxygen in the amount of 8-12 cu.m/t, lance is installed to working position. EFFECT: increased metal yield, lining stability and converter productivity, reduced consumption of alloying deoxiding agents and pig iron. 1 tbl
