FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: when preparing charge for producing pellets from lead-, zinc- and iron-containing metallurgical conversion waste, components of carbon-containing charge were batched depending upon stoichiometric amount of carbon required for reducing iron oxides and accompanying metals to prescribed magnitudes. Mass fraction of carbon (abs. % ) was preset at 1.2 to 1.8, stoichiometric quantity of carbon needed for reducing iron, zinc and lead oxides to base metal, and then adjusted by varying ratio between components. Content of carbon in charge was lowered by 0.10 to 0.14 % per each 0.1 % of zinc and lead. Whenever percentage of zinc and lead exceeded 1.8 % , further decreasing carbon content in charge was discontinued. EFFECT: higher yield of desired product, zinc and lead.
