FIELD: manufacture of building materials. SUBSTANCE: machine hearth is made with partitions which isolate sections from each other and are spaced along the vertical at a distance from the hearth base equal to 0.1-0.3 of the hearth height. The length of inlet and outlet down the machine motion sections is 0.15-0.30 and 0.10-0,20 of the hearth length respectively, the sections have branch pipes for feeding exhaust gases recirculated from vacuum chambers. A granulated charge is loaded onto conveyer belt 1 and is subjected to drying, ignition and two-stage caking in series. The drying is made under inlet section 4 of hearth 3. The charge caking is made in two stages - at first under the outlet hearth section effected by a heat-transfer agent at the temperature of 300°C and higher, then at the temperature of 90 °. The heat-transfer agent in section 6 is formed from a high- temperature gas and a recirculation gas flowing from section 5 under partition 11. EFFECT: improved structure. 1 dwg
