FIELD: chemical industry; production of aluminum-strontium alloys. SUBSTANCE: desired product was made by electrolysis using liquid aluminum cathode at temperature of 700 to 850 C, cathode density within 0.05-1.2 А/cm2, and interelectrode distance between 10 and 50 cm. Cathode metal was stirred at speed of 0.05 to 16.0 m/s and strontium chloride was introduced once or twice a day. Electrolyzer employed for producing aluminum-strontium alloys was provided with mixing apparatus and auxiliary electrodes. Electrical conductor that supplied power to liquid cathode was coated with material which did not react with alloy. Anode gases were removed from electrolyzer through openings made in anode. Thus obtained alloy was poured out via hole available at electrolyzer bottom. EFFECT: higher current yield and quality of desired product. 10 cl, 3 dwg
