FIELD: mining. SUBSTANCE: inert gas is brought into barren rock mass by forced destruction of a gas cylinder. The gas cylinders are placed in the soil of the working. After gas cylinders forced destruction the gas from the cylinders, using barren rock mass appeared cracks, goes up to daylight surface. Its appearance is fixed by test boreholes, made from the ground surface or from a working, located over the tested one. EFFECT: method facilitates accuracy of determination of upper border of cracks spreading zone. 4 cl, 1 dwg
