FIELD: mining of flat coal seams. SUBSTANCE: prevention of creating methane stratum accumulations in heading supported behind stope is effected by providing system of drain channels in mining strata for capping methane at intensification of gas emission from accompanying seams. Method provides for dividing strata which contains coal seam and accompanying seams into lower and upper levels by means of holes. Lower level is formed by first part of holes drilled ahead of stope from additional headings mined in direction of unworked coal strata from heading which contours stoping column from distance equal to pitch of secondary setting of roof rock. Mouths of first part of holes are located beyond width limits of plastic deformation zone adjacent to supported heading. First part of holes is drilled, cased, grouted and sealed up to boundary of roof rock thrust with subsequent provision of original slot along contact between accompanying seam and roof rock. Then first part of holes of lower level is connected to high-pressure pipeline and degassing pipeline for washing-out of space of second part of holes by means of hydraulic burst. Under level is formed by drilling additional holes into location zone of accompanying seams which are cased up to lower boundary of roof rock deformation zone. EFFECT: high efficiency. 3 cl, 10 dwg
