FIELD: nuclear power engineering. SUBSTANCE: if solid radioactive waste is reprocessed in pit ash and glass former are fed through narrowing part of converging tube into container put into through water-cooled melting pot composed of two split parts which are mounted for reciprocating motion in horizontal plane. Container filled with melt is moved from melting pot into hermetic chamber where melt is cooled finally. Then after sealing of containers the latter are sent for burial. EFFECT: improved process of compaction of solid radioactive waste into chemically stable monolithic material suitable for long-term burial. 1 dwg
