FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: viscose cellulose is treated with 22% aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide. Waste of cotton-purifying plants are treated with 28% aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide, and reaction solutions are combined. Mass ratio of viscous cellulose and waste is (50-90): (10-50). Obtained alkaline cellulose is alkylated with sodium monochloroacetate following by maturation. Carboxymethylcellulose is dried. EFFECT: improved method of carboxymethylcellulose producing. 1 tbl
