FIELD: hydraulic construction. SUBSTANCE: method includes making a chamber under a control joint of the channel facing. The chamber is made after completion of control joint construction work. Control joint 1 is made in the form of a plant guiding well. The well is made under back side of facing 2 in soil neighboring control joint 1 and laying under channel facing 2, with the well extending from the channel edge to the base of slope. The walls of plant guiding well 3 during its construction or after the well completion are impregnated with soil reinforcing solution. Weeds sprouting from seeds, roots or rhizomes, when entering the plant guiding well, grow freely along the well to the channel edge, owing to phototropic and geotropic reactions thus ensuring the control joint against biological degradation. EFFECT: extended service life. 1 dwg
