FIELD: hydraulic engineering. SUBSTANCE: functional joint of canal concrete lining includes installation on lower protrusion of one plate of the upper protrusion of the other plate to form upper rectangular hollow and lower hollow between side members of plates and end faces of protrusions. Facing each other planes of protrusions are coated with antifriction material, and upper rectangular hollow contains sealing member. Functional joint is distinguished by the fact that lower end face of lower protrusion and lower side member of neighboring plate form lower trapezoidal hollow with small upper base. Besides, rectangular hollow contains sealing material, e.g., bitumen mastic, and trapezoidal hollow of joint is empty. Antifriction material is used in form of grease, e.g., cup grease. In this case, angle of elevation of lower protrusion and neighboring plate opposite to it to ground underlying the joint is less than 90 deg. and width of rectangular hollow and upper base of trapezoidal hollow is larger than value of maximum elongation of plates during their temperature deformations. In course of linear temperature deformations of plates, protrusions sliding over one the other rub plant tissues of weeds to make them loss their viability. Presence of plastic sealing material in upper rectangular hollow of joint prevents its physical destruction.
