FIELD: water sampling at different depths. SUBSTANCE: self-contained sampler has floating case and water scoop built up of isolated chambers. Case accommodates frame divided into three spaces; central sealed space contains power units for flashgun, bottom space accommodates water scoop in the form of water-tight spirally coiled cylindrical shell with holes in its walls under water-tight partitions and elastic members placed within chambers to set apart shell walls; shell is secured on one end to case and on its other end, to ballast weight fixed within frame by means of water-responsive spacer. Top space of frame contains spring-loaded split conical bushing fixed in position by means of water-responsive pins; bushing houses gas-filled flexible shell hinged to platform which is provided with horizontal blades and mounts flashgun placed inside sealed transparent dome in focal plane of parabolic mirror and electrically connected through bottom hinge and halyard with power units.
