SUBSTANCE: method is implemented by conversion of optical image into video signal of sharp image with subsequent conversion of this video signal into digital packages of matrix of charge-coupled devices. Salient feature of method is reduced depth of potential cells storing charge packages by change of potential of phases. Device for formation of signal of distribution function of image brightness is composed of charge-coupled devices 1 and 2, light impenetrable screen 3. Charge-coupled device includes storage sections 4, memory sections 5, output and input registers 6 and 7. Device has synchronizer 8, generator 9 of linearly changing voltage, switch 10.
