FIELD: sewing production. SUBSTANCE: device has holder 1 in which sliding tubular member 5 is mounted. The member has tie-rod 6 sliding inside it and subjected to the effect of opposing spring 7 fastened on holder 1. Bottom end of member 5 carries two housings forming box 9 engageable with belt rigidly connected to tie-rod 6, and second opposing spring 15 connected to housing 11. Housing accommodates horizontally sliding member 17 carrying thread catching hook 18 whose movement is controlled by guide. Any relative movement of housings and belt leads to axial movement of member 17 along such a trajectory that hook 18 moves through needle eye 4 for catching any thread placed on holder 22 rigidly connected to member 17 fastened on housings of box 9.
