FIELD: automotive engineering. SUBSTANCE: rotary internal combustion engine has compression and expansion mechanism positioned on a common shaft between compression and expansion mechanisms with inlet and outlet valves provided at one side. The other side has pressure and expansion passages, each provided with corresponding valves with drives in the form of plungers with compression rings. Gas transfer means of compression and expansion mechanism have the form of disk-type valves driven from a common shaft, whereas combustion chambers are located in the casing outside the working volumes of the mechanisms. Outlet passage of the compression mechanism is connected to inlet passages of compression-expansion mechanism. Inlet valve of the expansion mechanism is connected to inlet valves of the compression-expansion mechanism. Its pressure passage extends through the combustion chamber. Inlet passage of the compression mechanism communicates with inlet passages of the casing, whereas outlet passage of the expansion mechanism communicates with outlet passage of the casing.
