FIELD: mining industry. SUBSTANCE: to enhance efficiency of control over rock pressure while working shallow and sloping mineral deposits by monitoring the process of breaking massifs of rock above mined-out space, the method involves dividing deposits into blocks, working primary chambers, stowing them, working secondary chambers and caving in overlying rock within contour of roof of longitudinal breaking, regulating the height of mined-out space and determining required volume of stowing on the condition of Δe=hd-hm.o where Δe - thickness of equivalent layer of stowing of mined-out space, m; hd - thickness of deposit, m; hm.o- maximum permissible height of mined-out space, m, determined by the formula hm.o=[(Kl-1)H]/1.5 where Kl - coefficient of loosening of overlying rock; H - distance from deposit roof to ground surface or lower boundary of guarded object, m; 1.5 - constant coefficient.
