FIELD: automobile construction; Diesel-electric trucks. SUBSTANCE: alternator is controlled to deliver constant output power, if its output voltage does not exceed the first preset value which corresponds to the "angular point" speed on the motor mechanical performance diagram, and to limit the voltage, if the motor speed exceeds said "angular point". In such a way the exiting current is prevented from exceeding the maximum continuous current level in the alternator exiting winding. As the motor speed exceeds the "angular point" speed, lower power is delivered to the motor but the power decrease is compensated by increasing the voltage limit over the first preset value. The voltage limit increase is proportional, up to the predetermined maximal level, to the motor load current decrease below the value at which the motor speed is equal to the "angular point" speed. The exiting winding current value ratio to the load current is decreased simultaneously with the voltage limit increase. In such a way the motor field is weakened thus enabling the motor to operate at the maximal permissible speed without exceeding the motor commutation level each time as the voltage limit is increased by a predetermined maximal value. EFFECT: enlarged operating capabilities. 10 cl, 6 dwg
