FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method of transportation of rectangular cross-section blanks in furnaces with stepping beams provides for blanks placing in a row on a furnace stationary bottom with longitudinal supporting plates, lifting of blanks by stepping beams, blanks horizontal motion in direction of their transportation along the furnace, blanks lowering on the furnace bottom, return of stepping beams in lowered state to initial position and repetition of the motion cycles. Furnace stationary bottom and stepping beams have bulges of trapezoidal form with trapezium height of h = (0.7 - 1) d and length of upper base of trapezium of l = (0.3 - 0.7) d, with d - distance along vertical line from a rib, that rests at the plate or beam, up to horizontal level of the center of cross-section of blanks. Neighboring trapezoidal form bulges make pits of triangular form to locate blanks. EFFECT: method decreases fuel or electricity consumption. 2 dwg
