FIELD: hot stamping. SUBSTANCE: impellers are made by changing the shape of heated workpiece to which the shape of bowl is preliminarily imparted. Extrusion of metal is controlled by varying its flowrate along paths ensuring an advance in shaping trailing edges of blades in directly proportional dependence on the process of crystallization ensuring desired structure of metal in the workpiece. Blades are shaped in interiors defined by walls of cantilevered inserts vibrating in response to the flow of metal. In the course of shaping outer vibration is imparted to the workpiece at a frequency modulated according to the natural vibration frequency of the cantilevers, and the action of friction forces in boundary layer of metal being deformed is reduced as it engages with walls of inserts. Workpiece is stamped in a die having cantilevered inserts. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of the method and device. 4 cl, 11 dwg
