FIELD: metal powder production technique. SUBSTANCE: during free flowing of metal from slit hole 3 of bottom part of furnace well 1 metal jet is formed which runs against gas flows running from sprayer unit made up of laval nozzles along the line of their intersection where jets are disintegrated into drops which moving on cone-shaped surface formed by gas flows harden and acquire their size. As metal drops never move towards each other no coagulation of drops takes place and particles of powder keep the size of initial drops of metal. Bottom part of furnace well is made in the form of cone or prism with the angle at apex not exceeding the angle between axes of laval nozzles, and distance by vertical from cut of nozzles of slit hole is determined by respective relationship between distance between cuts of nozzles, angle between axes of nozzles and width of critical cross section of laval nozzle. EFFECT: enhanced operating reliability. 1 tbl, 4 dwg
