FIELD: instrumentation engineering, magnetic recording, magnetic head design. SUBSTANCE: two brass semiunits 1 are joined by screens made of alternating layers of permalloy and brass. Slots of semiunits 1 accommodate wound semicores provided with working and auxiliary gaps. Screens 5 in central portion protrude beyond semiunits on the side of auxiliary gaps of semicores. Protruding portions of screens 5 are narrower than nonprotrusing portions. EFFECT: improved transverse density of signal recording on magnetic tape along with improved noise immunity of records. 3 cl, 2 dwg
