FIELD: electrical machines. SUBSTANCE: MHD generator channel has two insulating walls 36, 37 and two current-transfer walls 10, 11 built up of electrically isolated and crosswise positioned ceramic troughs 12, 15 filled with metal melt, such as liquid cast iron. Troughs forming top and bottom current-transfer walls pass to fire surface by bottom walls and top ends of side walls, respectively. Troughs are positioned horizontally; their maximum filling with melt changes gradually along channel towards increase or decrease according to channel geometry. Communicating holes are provided in top part of side walls of troughs to form manifold for filling troughs with melt. Trough end carries cooled contact formed by metal rod 38 with solidified melt layer 41 connected to external electric circuit. EFFECT: improved design. 5 cl, 11 dwg
