FIELD: chemical engineering; air scrubbers. SUBSTANCE: apparatus designed for wet scrubbing of air and gases incorporates gas chamber 1 which houses vertically positioned permeable porous pipes 2. Pipes 2 are arranged in successive rows and staggered order. Permeable porous pipes have porosity gradually varying in height and permeable porous spherical segments 3 in their upper portions. Pipes 2 offer minimum porosity in their lower portions uniformly increasing upwards. Grate 5 is disposed in front of chamber 1 in intake diffuse 4 at right angles to direction of air or gas flow.
