FIELD: passive safety of motorists and their protection against injuries in case of crash. SUBSTANCE: device comprises cylinder 4 with through cutouts of closed loop 9, plunger 1 disposed in cylinder 4 and moved by combustion products of gas-generating charge, bushing 5 with lock 6 of safety belt 7 secured thereon, flexible nonextensible rod 8 passing through cutouts 9 of cylinder 4 and encompassing end portion 10 of plunger 1. One end 12 of rod 8 is secured to cylinder 4 while its other end 11 is connected to bushing 5. The latter has an additional hole in the form of truncated cone. The shape of the pin installed in conical hole matches with that of the space formed by cylinder 4 and conical hole. At the side of the larger base the pin has a through slot of open loop. The pin is installed in the conical hole with a radial clearance permitting axial movement of said pin relative to bushing 5 over a distance exceeding the axial motion of the pin required for the entrance of pin shoulder into the conical hole of bushing 5. Cylinder 4 has a splined tooth snapping into the pin slot. The end of rod is secured on pin at the side of its smaller base. Device comprises additionally a buffer space 19 capable of communicating with the space of gas-generating charge 2. EFFECT: higher comfort ensured by adjusting the force which holds the motorist to the seat regardless of the maximum plunger stroke and motorist's figure, while retaining the compactness of the device. 3 cl, 3 dwg
