TOMATO GROWING METHOD Russian patent published in 1994 - IPC

FIELD: agriculture. SUBSTANCE: method involves growing tomato plants by planting seedlings with cotyledonous leaves, three true leaves, and three lateral shoots with five leaves on each shoot. Two shoots must have one truss on each, and the third shoot must have two trusses. Tops of the lateral shoots are pinched out, and the cotyledonous leaves as well as three true leaves are removed by the end of the first decade after planting. By the end of the next decade removed should be first leaves of all the lateral shoots. Also removed should be the third leaf of the lateral shoot having 2 trusses. The plants are grown till maturity of the lateral shoots with one leaf, seven or eight tomatoes on each truss, and sixth leaf on one of the three lateral shoots. By the end of the fifth decade removed should be the second leaves on all lateral shoots and the third leaf on the shoot having six leaves. The plants are grown to develop the seventh leaf on this shoot and the sixth leaf on one of the two shoots with five leaves. The crop is harvested since the end of the fifth decade till the end of the sixth decade. EFFECT: higher crop yield. 8 dwg, 1 tbl
