FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: composition for sulfur dissolving contains disulfide or polysulfide or their mixture and catalyst representing a mixture of basic nitrogen-containing compound and spirituous or aqueous solution of alkaline metal hydroxide or alcoholate or carbonate. Composition has the compounds indicated at the following ratio, wt.-%: basic nitrogen-containing compound 0.1-10; compound of alkaline metal 0.1-10; dialkyldisulfide or dialkylpolysulfide, or their mixture - the rest. Composition has also as nitrogen-containing compound: ammonia, aliphatic amines (cyclohexylamine), arylamines (aniline), alkarylamines (toluidine), polyalkylenehydroxyamines and/or polyamines, amides (dimethylformamide), sulfenamides (n-cyclohexyl-2-benzothiazolesulfenamide), imines (cyclohexanoimine) and/or enamines (1-dimethylaminocyclohexene).
