FIELD: materials technology. SUBSTANCE: fireproof oxide powder with a grain size of 0.5 to 3 microns and the starting temperature of baking higher than the temperature of the billet material baking is applied to the surface of the billets to be burned. The powder is preliminarily burned at a temperature higher than that of the plate billet baking but lower than the inherent baking temperature. The billets are arranged horizontally in piles between two supports, the size of the pores of the supports being within 1 to 5 microns. The mass of the loading support is below the force of pressing the powder particles into the billet. Plates whose thickness is less than 100 microns are obtained as a result of the given process. EFFECT: production of high-quality thin ceramic and piezoceramic elements. 1 tbl
