FIELD: shipbuilding. SUBSTANCE: rudder stock consists of upper and lower parts with cardan joint between them; one axle of this joint opens under action of forces perpendicular to rudder plane; these forces exceed preset magnitude protecting the rudder against damage and easily restoring under running conditions. Spring of rudder blade and diagonal and transverse flexible braces hold the lower portion of rudder stock and rudder blade in the operating position allowing the lower portion of rudder stock to deflect forward together with rudder blade under action of impact on the rudder from behind and the rudder blade to deflect backward under action of front impact. Braces also hold the lower portion of rudder stock in opening of the cardan joint axle. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 2 cl, 6 dwg
