FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: potassium silicate solution is prepared by interaction of crystalline silicon dioxide with aqueous solution of potassium hydroxide at 215 C under steady pressure of saturated steam into autoclave. Quartz taken at 5-16% excess of stoichiometry and preliminary calcined at 1300-1600 C in the presence of alkali (catalyst) is used as a source of crystalline silicon dioxide.
