FIELD: membrane technology; clearing and concentration of solutions of electrolytes. SUBSTANCE: surface of ion-exchange membranes has grooves with ratio of their depth and thickness of membrane to be equal to 0.3-0.8 and ratio of width of groove and distance between neighboring grooves to be equal to 0.2-10. Grooves can be made on both sides of membrane. Grooves may have variable configuration and may be located at a different angle relative to each other. EFFECT: increased values of amounts of transfer of ions of hydrogen and hydroxyl through ion-exchange membranes. 7 cl, 2 tbl
