FIELD: transport engineering. SUBSTANCE: mixture of gases formed after combustion of fuel in cylinder 1 exerts pressure both on piston 2 of the engine and on piston 3 of plunger pump 4 mounted directly on cylinder head 5. Motion of piston 2 is transmitted to plunger 6 with whose help water (liquid) contained in plunger chamber 7 is fed to injector 8. After definite pressure has been obtained, obturating needle 9 pressed with spring 10 opens and water (liquid) is injected into cavity 11 of combustion chamber. Pressing spring 10 is rated at the respective pressure whose excess opens obturating needle. Obturating needle opens at definite moment of crankshaft position which favours most effective injection of water. Amount of water (liquid) is regulated by means of screw 12. EFFECT: enhanced service characteristics through enhanced reliability and efficiency of engine, as well as reduction of contamination of surrounding medium. 1 dwg
