FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: lime-vanadium slag includes 20.0 mass percent FeO maximum, 3.0 to 10.0 mass percent MgO and more than 10.0 mass percent vanadium pentoxide. Lime-vanadium slag further includes manganese oxide, titanium dioxide, calcium oxide, silicon dioxide and the like. Ratio between vanadium pentoxide and ferric oxide exceed 0.5, vanadium pentoxide-to-titanium dioxide ratio is 3.0 and calcium oxide-to-silicon dioxide ration is greater than 2.5. Process for manufacturing lime-vanadium slag includes such steps as blowing off vanadium cast iron with oxygen in oxygen converter with addition of coolants and accumulation of vanadium slag in vanadium cast iron by running two or three heats. In final heat of vanadium slag accumulation cycle, vanadium cast iron should be blown off with oxygen without addition of coolants to produce semi-finished vanadium-containing product which is to be poured into second converter. Next step is introduction of coolants and slag-forming materials during progress of heat. Disclosed process prescribes leaving up to one half thus produced lime-vanadium slag in converter, after steel tapping, for the following heat and discharging remaining lime-vanadium slag into bowl. It is also permissible that vanadium cast iron be poured on lime-vanadium slag remained from preceding heat after one and/or two heats carried out in second converter.
