FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: vanadium-containing dross is added to a ladle with metal during the casting process in the concentration 1.0-1.5% in respect to the volume of metal in the ladle. The ladle is then covered and conveyed to a "furnace-ladle" unit where metal is treated for 3-5 min with a neutral gas fed with the rate 200-300 l/min, and heated to the temperature 1530-1585 C, followed by adding a dross-like mixture in amount of as high as 10 kg per 1 t of steal with the aim to have the height of dross in the ladle ranging from 65 to 110 mm, and then a needed quantity of ferrous alloys. The mixture thus obtained is reheated and blown off with a neutral gas for 3-5 min at a rate 200-300 l/min until 0.01- 0.05% vanadium is reduced. As a dross-like mixture, the mixture of 80% lime and 20-25% fluorspar; as a vanadium dross, a dross from the iron conversion of the duplex process; and as a neutral gas, argon may be used. EFFECT: new method proposed. 4 cl
