FIELD: apparatuses for continuous drying of wood chips. SUBSTANCE: method involves returning secondary steam exiting dryer 8 and free of flue gases into dryer, with secondary steam being preliminarily heated by indirect heating prior to being introduced into dryer by means of flue gases discharged from combustion chamber 1 to temperature required for drying the material; discharging a portion of secondary steam from circulation coil and supplying it into combustion chamber 1. Apparatus has cyclone or cyclones 12 used for separating dry material and connected with dryer 8 through pipeline 13, which is used for returning secondary steam into dryer 8. Heat-exchanger 7 mounted on pipeline 13 is adapted for indirect heating of secondary steam by flue gases discharged from combustion chamber 1. Manifold 6 connected with combustion chamber 1 is branched from pipeline 13 and disposed downstream of heat-exchanger 7. EFFECT: increased efficiency by reduced power consumption and wider operational capabilities. 12 cl, 1 dwg
