FIELD: manufacture of insulation materials. SUBSTANCE: insulation material is manufactured from mixture of water glass and organic particles. Initial moisture content of organic particles is brought to less than 20%. Weight ratio of organic particles and solution of water glass amounts to 1: (0.4- 1.5). Mixture with height of filling corresponding to 1.1-1.5-fold value of material thickness is placed on carrier in form of mat, compacted and treated with carbon dioxide by passing it through the entire surface of material with subsequent passage of flow of hot gas or by simultaneous passing of carbon dioxide and hot gas. The device for embodiment of the offered method has two belt sieves located over each other. Each sieve is located in form of endless belt round two remote shafts. Upper belt sieve is adjustable in height. Carbon dioxide and hot gas supplying cap is located above lower branch of upper belt sieve. Exhaust hood is located under upper branch of lower belt sieve. Cross-sectional area of caps of the side of sieves is not less than the area of treated insulation material. The device may have reinforcing section.
