FIELD: building materials industry. SUBSTANCE: the composition comprises wt % : 44-60 low-melting clay; 10-20 finely ground limestone; 12-20 chamotte; 5-10 chalk, and 5-10 soda glass having a specific surface area of 7000-8000 см²/г and a viscosity of less than 5 Pa.s. The process comprises mixing 15-35% chamotte of its total amount in limestone, crushing to a specific surface area of 5000-6000 см²/г, stirring the resulting crushed mixture with the remaining chamotte and the low-melting clay for 20-30 min and thereafter adding a mixture of sodium glass and chalk crushed to a surface area of 7000-8000 см²/г and stirring the whole till it becomes homogeneous followed by molding, drying and firing of the raw material. The salted-out areas on the surface of articles are fully eliminated, thus making their external appearance more attractive. EFFECT: improved properties of the composition. 3 cl, 1 tbl
