FIELD: metallurgy and inorganic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: method involves forming a layer of liquid lead on cathode surface before loading lead oxide into electrolyzer with indifferent cathode containing melted electrolyte based on sodium hydroxide. Amount of lead oxide is 15-20% of the mass of electrolyte. Electrolysis is carried out at a cathode current density of 0,3-0,5 A/cm2 and a temperature of 550-65 C. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 1 tbl
