FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrolytic production of alloys. Neodymium-iron alloy is obtained, containing 78-96 wt% of neodymium. In electrolyzer neodymium oxide is loaded, iron in form of chips, molten salt mixture as electrolyte through loading pocket, in which temperature is set at 725-990°C. Electrolysis is carried out at temperature of electrolyte 735-1,000°C, and ready product is discharged via discharge pocket, in which temperature is set at 685-950°C. Thermal mode of electrolyzer is controlled by applying alternating current at constant one at working DC density on electrodes of 0.4-0.8 A/cm2 and AC density of no more than 0.8 A/cm2. Electrolyzer is equipped with end loading pocket for raw material loading and unloading pocket to unload ready product and made with possibility to control temperature mode by means of combined source of combined power supply of DC and AC, wherein discharge pocket of ready product is interconnected with bath with horizontal channel at level of melt, and loading pocket is interconnected at level of electrolyte and is made with recess for storage of undissolved neodymium oxide.
EFFECT: reduced power consumption and increased stability of process are achieved.
