FIELD: fiber optic transmission systems. SUBSTANCE: in order to decrease the reswitching time of the input optical signals into the output ones, to decrease the power consumption and to enhance the reliability, the information about the spatial frequency and the location of the switching microhologram is preliminarily stored in the memory cell. Then this information is read-out and the microhologram is recorded according with it. The read-out is periodically repeated. After the end of the connection the information is erased from the cell. Carrier on the basis of modified bacteriorhodopsin in a polymeric matrix is used as photoreversible medium. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 11 cl, 2 dwg
