FIELD: automatics; computer technology. SUBSTANCE: method is based upon in-cut and intercut signals contiguity formation after the signals are preliminary treated. Image elements are related to object which have signals being equal to zero in cut with maximal in-cut contiguity and in cuts being adjacent to the cut, when intercut contiguity of the signals is higher than preset one. Device has photodetector array 1, adder 3, storage registers 6, 7, AND gate 9, pulse counter 10, multiplexer 11, univibrator 13, NOT gate 15, clock pulse generator 17 and rejection pulse former 19. Cells 2 for selecting image element are brought additionally, as well as adder 4, sequent access memory unit 5, comparison units 8, 12, counter 14, decoding unit 16, address former 18, parallel access memory unit 20.
