FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method involves sequential ultrasonic treatment of metal as it is fed into mold; introducing acoustic energy directly through additive frozen into hardening metal as well as indirectly through mold walls, with ultrasonic action upon mold walls starting the moment metal is supplied into mold up to completion of crystallization. Direct introduction of acoustic energy into hardening metal is conducted as the mold is filled with metal. EFFECT: improved quality of ingots by increased efficiency of ultrasonic treatment. 4 cl, 4 dwg
