FIELD: foundry, namely, casting ingots of metals and alloys. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of acting upon metal in ingot mold with acoustic shocks created in electrohydraulic discharge chamber mounted onto ingot mold and transmitted to metal with the aid of detachable electrode-wave guide. The last is made of metallic material whose chemical content is similar to that of treated metal. Simultaneously unipolar pulse electric current with repetition frequency 1-5 Hz is passed through metal in ingot mold. Value of specific energy of pulse is 0.4-1.0 kJ per ton of treated metal at frequency of discharge current 20-80 kHz. EFFECT: enhanced fineness and uniformness of cast metal structure. 2 cl, 1 dwg, 1 tbl
