FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: reduction gear has cantilever axle and unit of gear wheels provided with outer and inner teeth and mounted on the axle. When the reduction gear is in operation a bent torque occurs owing to engagement loading. The value of the bent torque defines the lateral sizes of the cantilever axle. In addition, a torque of force couple, which is applied to corresponding toothings, acts on the cantilever axle through the unit of gear wheels at certain conditions. Total force action on the cantilevered axle is minimum if through openings, provided in plates, which form the case of the reduction gear, and cantilevers are positioned with respect to each other so that parts of previous and next steps interposed between axles are intersected at a given angle. The intersection angle is defined by engagement torque with respect to the attachment and torque of force couple applied to the unit of the gear wheels. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 4 dwg
