SAFETY DEVICE FOR CARDAN SHAFT Russian patent published in 1994 - IPC

FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: safety device for cardan shaft has housing with chamber for receiving the carden shaft and drive shaft. Mounted on the housing coaxially relative to the cardan shaft is protective casing. Device is provided with mechanism for uncoupling the shafts in case of removal of protective casing. This mechanism is made in form of splined bush movable in axial direction which is mounted on the ends of shafts by means of splined joint and pressure member made in form of sleeve with inner bore at one of its ends and mounted coaxially on the housing. Housing is provided with longitudinal slots. Sleeve is linked with splined bush through additional bush mounted on the splined bush by means of bearings and pins secured on the additional bush and sleeve and movably arranged in the longitudinal slots. To press the sleeve to the end of the protective casing, spring is fitted in the bore of the sleeve between its bottom and flange of the housing. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 2 dwg
